Next, you’ll take a boat across the Nile to the western bank, the “City of the Dead,” where the second part of the tour will take place. You’ll visit the western bank and the Valley of the Kings. The tour begins with the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous statues standing 18 meters tall and weighing over 700 tons each. You will then proceed through the Valley of the Dead and visit the temple of the Pharaoh-Queen Hatshepsut. The temple is renowned for its three-tiered terraces, each featuring an open courtyard, covered chambers with pilasters, and sanctuaries hidden deep within the mountain. You’ll also visit the Valley of the Kings, a rocky gorge in Egypt where the tombs for pharaohs and high-ranking officials of the New Kingdom were constructed. The Valley of the Kings became particularly famous after the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. There are over 60 tombs in the Valley of the Kings. After this, you can enjoy a boat ride on the Nile with an optional visit to Banana Island for an additional fee of $10.
